Nature And Birding Walk

Join the Alabama Wildlife Center for a relaxed, guided nature walk through the beautiful habitats of Oak Mountain State Park. We’ll move at a friendly pace and pause often to listen and look for resident birds and early fall migrants—think woodpeckers, warblers, and the occasional raptor overhead. Along the way, our team will share easy tips for spotting and identifying birds, reading habitats, and supporting urban wildlife at home.

Brushes and Birdhouses

Join the Alabama Wildlife Center for a creative, hands-on afternoon at Brushes & Birdhouses! Paint and decorate your own wooden birdhouse to take home—no experience needed. We’ll provide a quick demo with decorating tips, all materials (birdhouse, paints, brushes, and embellishments), and friendly guidance. It’s a relaxing, nature-inspired activity perfect for adults, families, and friend groups—and it supports AWC’s mission of wildlife rehabilitation and education.

Boos, Brews, and Birds

Step into a spook‑tacular night at AWC for Boos (Booze), Brews, and Birds – sponsored by Cahaba Brewing and Tito’s Vodka! Roam our campus to meet glove‑trained raptors (if you’re lucky, even a vulture or two 👀), sip seasonal brews or a Halloween cocktail in our festively decked‑out courtyard, and trick‑or‑treat your way through candy stations scattered across AWC. Expect hauntingly good photo ops, a costume parade, classic Halloween hits, and plenty of treats—no tricks.

Thanksgiving Turkey Vulture Paint and Sip Feat. Princess

Thanksgiving Paint N Sip with Princess (AWC’s beloved turkey vulture!) is a cozy, creative afternoon at the Alabama Wildlife Center. On Sunday, November 16 from 2–4 pm, you’ll paint a fall-themed piece, sip a festive drink, and meet Princess up close while learning why vultures are essential to healthy ecosystems. No experience needed—just bring your friends and seasonal spirit.
