Join us for Nature Break! AWC will be hosting 2 events each day over the week of Spring Break (March 27 – 31)

Monday – March 27th

Raptor Encounter

Come join AWC staff at Alabama Wildlife Center to learn exciting and interesting facts about raptors! You will also have the chance to meet a raptor in person and up close.

Free with admission to OMSP!

Lunch w/ Shelby

Come spend your lunchtime with AWC’s education ambassador Bald Eagle, Shelby! Learn all about America’s national bird, including their biology, behaviors and current conservation status. You’ll also have an up-close chance to watch Shelby enjoy her lunch!

We will meet at Shelby’s enclosure at 1:00 P.M. – directly next to our center.

Wednesday – March 29th

10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.

Treetop Nature Trail Hike

Join AWC for an exciting and educational walk along Treetop Nature Trail! Come meet our permanent resident raptors that live along Treetop’s Boardwalk & learn all about them and their unique species. This walk is also a great chance to practice plant identification and birding by ear!

Meet at the OMSP Beach Access Parking Lot (just past the park office) at 11:00 A.M. Limited handicapped parking is available.

The interpretive walk is designed for all ages & will last 1-2 hours.

Thursday – March 30th

10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.

Birding 101

Want to learn the basics of bird identification? Join AWC staff and volunteers for Birding 101! We’ll discuss common species of Alabama and how to identify them based on sight and sound, as well as how to use current technology to become a better birder.

Bring your binoculars and meet in AWC’s observation room. This event will last around two hours and is free with paid admission to Oak Mountain State Park.
